ON THIS DAY in 1910, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Bricklayers’ Strike Will Stop Building in all the Boroughs.” The article focused on more than 30,000 mechanics who were affected by a conflict at the time between the International Association of Bricklayers and Mason Builders Association.  “This completes the rupture between the bricklayers and the employers, and the manifold building operations in the five boroughs of the greater city, as well as in other cities where the local contractors affected have structures in course of erection, have been brought to a temporary standstill,” the Eagle reported.
