State Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz (D-Midwood, Gravesend, Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach) recently called this towering addition to a partly collapsed Homecrest bungalow a “five-story monster of a house,” Sheepshead Bites reported.

The unfinished “godawful tumor house,” as Curbed.com called it, was designed by architect Shlomo Wygoda. It stands on stilts that look like they might snap like toothpicks.

Owner Joseph Durzieh bought the property from Eddie Betesh for $700,000 in 2005, city records indicate.

After years of conflict between neighborhood residents and the city Board of Standards and Appeals, which okayed the project, in early March the city Buildings Department ordered Durzieh to submit new construction plans in 60 days – or tear the place down. We’ll keep our Eye on this one.
