It was a busy Labor Day weekend for crime in Brooklyn, shootings making the headlines.

The most heart-wrenching story came on Sunday, September 1, with the fatal shooting of a one-year-old baby who was in his stroller, out for an evening stroll with his parents outside 352 Bristol Street in Brownsville, when gunshots broke out at 7:19 p.m. and he was hit twice, at least once in the head. The boy, Antiq Hennis, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. No arrests have since been made, but the investigation is ongoing and police have claimed that they believe residents know who the shooter was.

The day before, on Saturday, August 31, a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 35-year-old woman was shot in the torso/body by two unknown suspects who reportedly fled immediately thereafter. It was at around 1:52 a.m. when the shooting took place at Clarendon Road and Flatbush Avenue. Both victims were taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
