Rep. Michael Grimm (R-Bay Ridge) may find a familiar face opposing him when he runs for re-election next year.

The New York Daily News reports that former Democratic Congressman Michael McMahon, who Grimm defeated in 2010, is considering making a political comeback and running for his old seat again.

The race would take place in 2014.

Grimm, a U.S. Marine and former F.B.I. agent, was a first-time candidate when he beat the incumbent McMahon in what turned out to be a Republican wave in 2010. The election catapulted the G.O.P. back into power in the House.

McMahon, a lawyer, was a House freshman when he was ousted by Grimm. McMahon had won the seat in 2008 after Republican incumbent Vito Fossella, mired in scandal, opted not to seek re-election. Fossella was arrested for drunk driving in Virginia that year. The arrest unraveled his messy personal life and it was discovered that he had two families – one in Staten Island and one in Virginia.

Grimm won a second term in November by defeating Democrat Mark Murphy.
