Downtown’s Dekalb Market was the site of “Everybooty” a rollicking all-day outdoor party celebrating gay pride on Sunday, the culminating day of Gay Pride Week.

Hundreds of partygoers danced under the sun to performers who pulled out all the stops from the dulcet transgendered tones of Tony-nominated Mx. Justin Vivian Bond (that’s Mx. instead of Mr. or Ms.) to the in-your-face gay rapper AB Soto.

Three production teams Spank, Hey Queen and Earl Dax worked together to bring together more than a dozen big-name performers, DJs, bands and food vendors to the market space ringed with salvaged shipping containers.

“Today we want to bring back the magic to New York and bring people together in a free space to celebrate,” Spank spokesperson Sean Bumgarner told the Brooklyn Eagle. “We felt New York really lacked that, and felt that Brooklyn is the place to really shine and highlight this amazing day.

New York City celebrates Gay Pride for a full week each June to honor one of the foremost events in the history of lesbian and gay rights, the Stonewall Riots, which started on June 28, 1969.
