State Senator Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) wants transit workers armed with Tasers, according to the Daily News. His efforts are being supported by Transport Workers Union of Local 100 because of the increasing number assaults on subway workers and bus drivers by irate passengers. Adams last year introduced a similar bill to allow Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road and MetroNorth workers as well as subway train crews to carry Tasers, but the bill was buried in the Senate’s Codes Committee.
