Lorna Simpson’s Fort Greene art studio hits market for $6.5M

FORT GREENE — ARTIST LORNA SIMPSON has listed her custom-built, four-story art studio at 208 Vanderbilt Ave. for $6.5 million, according to the New York Times. Designed by David Adjaye in 2006, the 3,293-square-foot site, used for her work until recently, features a great room with 17-foot ceilings and a Japanese garden, per broker Leslie Marshall.
Explaining why she originally commissioned the studio, she told the Times, “I could not find something that I liked that felt spacious and that did not feel like a tight traditional townhouse domestic space with limited free-wall space.”
