Dead woman, 80 dogs found in Brooklyn home

MILL BASIN — A 73-year-old woman was found deceased in her heavily cluttered home on East 66th St. on the morning of June 26, police said. Officers responding at 6:43 a.m. to a 911 call discovered the woman unresponsive on the ground.
Around 80 dogs were also found in the home, initially preventing first responders from entering, according to NBC News 4. The ASPCA, the NYPD Emergency Service Unit and animal control were called in and assisted in safely removing the dogs, many of whom appeared to be sick and underfed. One dog reportedly gave birth to puppies during the rescue efforts.
Images posted by the Animal Care Centers of NYC showed numerous dogs with deeply matted fur, alongside a call for community support and potential adopters.
The cause of death remains under investigation, while the woman’s identity is being withheld pending further details.
