Dinosaur-themed art exhibit opens in subway station

PARK SLOPE — Rex’s NYC Dino Store, an art installation by Sarah Cassidy and Akiva Leffert, has transformed a vacant retail space at Grand Army Plaza subway station into a dinosaur-themed deli, reports PIX News 11.

Featuring a human-sized dinosaur “owner” and gag items like Alka-Saurus, Meteoritos and copies of the Maul Street Journal, the exhibit is part of the MTA’s Vacant Unit Activation Program, launched in 2023 to revitalize long-unused subway retail spaces.

The Dino Store is the program’s tenth project so far.
