BROOKLYN — Brooklyn Democratic Party leader Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn is supporting Brooklyn Democratic Party secretary Sabrina Gates’ last-minute challenge against incumbent City Council Member Lincoln Restler in the 33rd District primary on June 24, reports City and State.

Gates, who ran in 2021, says her campaign focuses on housing and safety, while Restler is a progressive reform advocate with a sizable fundraising edge – and who has criticized the party’s “corrupt machine” and Brooklyn Dem leadership, including Bichotte Hermelyn.

Trading barbs, Bichotte Hermelyn called Restler divisive, while Restler accused the chair of targeting him over his reform efforts. Gates said her decision to run was not prompted by Bichotte Hermelyn.
