The Brooklyn legal community is hosting a suit drive to help individuals reentering society after imprisonment by providing them with professional attire.

This initiative, led by Michael Farkas and Melina Alexis-Hayes from the District Attorney’s Office, involves multiple local legal organizations, including the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Kings County Criminal Bar Association, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the Kings County Supreme Court, Brooklyn Defender Services and the Legal Aid Society of Brooklyn.

Donations of new or gently used men’s suits, dress shirts, ties, and shoes on hangers are welcomed. These contributions will equip individuals for job interviews and new employment, offering them a better chance to succeed.

Attorneys and other community members can drop off their donations at three Brooklyn locations on specific dates:

  • Brooklyn Bar Association: April 24-26, until 4 p.m.
  • KCDA lobby at 350 Jay St.: May 1-3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Brooklyn Supreme Court at 320 Jay St.: May 8-10, between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M.

This suit drive is a crucial part of the effort to support those overcoming barriers to reintegration and independence, helping them make a positive return to the workforce.
