KYIV — Even in a country torn apart by mankind’s wars, nature prevails, often in beauty: A woman poses for a friend next to blossoming trees in the A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden, in Kyiv, Ukraine, Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Here in NYC, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 23. However, the blossoms decided to get a jump start. Cherry blossom season normally lasts around a month, but the trees bloom at different times, providing enjoyment throughout the season.

Actually, the BBG states on its website, “The overall trend is for cherry trees to blossom a little earlier each year. That’s due to climate change. It wasn’t that long ago that Sakura Matsuri was scheduled for the first weekend in May, which corresponded pretty well with Cherry Esplanade being in bloom.”
