However, the tradition does come with some perils — and not necessarily from climbing a ladder. In 2017, Michigan Wolverines assistant coach Billy Donlon accidentally lacerated his hand on the scissors that he had been offering, in the correct manner, to his teammate; he blamed his unusually tight grip on the blades.
