DUMBO — Police arrested a Far Rockaway man on Thursday for allegedly attacking and robbing a 73-year-old man on an F train as it approached the York Street station in DUMBO on Tuesday, Feb. 13 around 9:45 a.m.

According to an NYPD spokesperson, Dupreme Williams, 42, approached the senior straphanger and punched him in the face, breaking his eyeglasses. He then stole the man’s cellphone before fleeing on foot at the station. The victim refused medical attention.

Williams was arrested within the 60th Precinct in Brooklyn (which includes Coney Island and Brighton Beach). He is charged with attempted robbery, assault, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.

This is not the only case in which Williams is charged. According to court records obtained by the Brooklyn Eagle, he was previously arrested and charged for an assault in Brooklyn which took place on March 8. He was also arrested for a Feb. 13 incident in Brooklyn, where he faces charges of criminal mischief with intent to damage property. This arrest resulted in a referral by the court to a problem-solving/alternative court program.

In Queens, Williams was charged in a Feb. 14 assault; and also in a Feb. 17 incident where he was charged with harassment and intent to damage property, for which a Temporary Order of Protection was issued.

Williams was released without bail on all charges pending his court dates. He is being represented by Legal Aid in Queens and public defenders in Brooklyn, according to court records.
