GRAND ARMY PLAZA — Brooklyn Public Library hosted the eighth annual Night in the Library over the weekend, keeping the doors open from 7 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. Participants joined leading thinkers, scientists, writers, activists, and artists in a marathon of performances, debates, music, readings, and lectures, all addressing the theme, “Out of Darkness.” Together, speakers and patrons considered and confronted the difficult times we are living in, learning how to actively understand our world without counterproductively retreating from it.
Night in the Library is one of a series of free programs that embodies BPL’s commitment to providing a safe space for free speech and thoughtful debate from a variety of viewpoints.
