The Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA) is gearing up for an unprecedentedly active season this spring under the leadership of President Joseph Rosato. With an ambitious lineup of 14 events planned (so far) through May, the BBA is poised to offer its members an array of unique educational and networking opportunities.

Among the highlights are the exclusive Judicial Sit Downs, an initiative by President Rosato to foster closer relationships between the bench and the bar. These sit-downs are set to feature esteemed jurists like Hon. Bernard Graham of the Surrogate’s Court on March 6, Hon. Amanda White, Supervising Judge of the Family Court, on March 20, and Hon. Cenceria Edwards on April 17.

The Judicial Sit Downs offer BBA members a rare chance to gain insights into the judges’ backgrounds, courtroom management styles and perspectives on legal proceedings, enhancing mutual understanding and addressing pertinent issues within the legal community.

Those nights will hardly be the only time to find a judge at the BBA. On Tuesday, April 9, the BBA will host its annual Judiciary Night. That event invites all of the borough’s judges, and it gives the administrative and supervising judges a chance to update members on their courts and introduce their new judges.

In addition to these sit-downs, the BBA is committed to maintaining its standard of high-quality Continuing Legal Education (CLE) offerings. The schedule includes a diverse range of topics such as medical malpractice, the new property disclosure law, and effective navigation of the Kings County Clerk’s Office, with a special session led by County Clerk and Past BBA President Hon. Nancy Sunshine on March 7. The Professional Management CLE series further broadens the scope with sessions on artificial intelligence on April 3 and a unique CLE on book writing scheduled for May 2.

The spring events calendar culminates on May 21 with a CLE titled “Culture and Religion in Custody Proceedings,” promising an engaging exploration of complex issues at the intersection of family law, cultural identity and religious beliefs.
