A 32-year-old man from Brooklyn, Tyshawn Corbett, also known as “Reck,” a key figure in the notorious Elite Assassin Millas (E.A.M.) gang, was sentenced to 45 years in prison by United States District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto on Monday.

The sentencing in the federal court of Brooklyn follows Corbett’s admission of guilt in September 2022 to three firearm offenses involving murder and assault in aid of racketeering.

Corbett’s criminal record, detailed in court filings, reveals a history of violence and intimidation in the East New York community. As an active member of E.A.M., a subset of the Bloods street gang, he was involved in serious crimes, including the shooting and killing of Michael Tenorio in April 2015.

In a separate incident, his actions led to the paralysis of another individual, known as John Doe #1 in June 2018.

The gang’s operations, concentrated in East New York, were characterized by drug trafficking and a series of violent acts aimed at maintaining their power. Corbett, within this context, earned a reputation as a “shooter,” willing to execute violent acts against others, significantly contributing to the fear and instability in the community.

“For years, Corbett inflicted violence on rivals and terrorized the East New York community with impunity, but with today’s sentence, he has been punished for his repeated, flagrant disrespect for the law,” said United States Attorney for the Eastern District Breon Peace.
