Exemplary service in the courts celebrated at the Thirteenth Annual Mollen Awards

The Brooklyn legal community is set to gather at the Appellate Division for the Second Judicial Department on Jan. 24 to honor Tamara Broadus, a court clerk specialist in the Supreme Court, Kings County, Civil Term. 

She is one of the eight distinguished recipients of the Thirteenth Annual Milton Mollen Commitment to Excellence Award, announced by Presiding Justice Hector LaSalle.

In addition to Broadus, other honorees from various judicial districts will be recognized, including Tara Mulcahy from the Ninth Judicial District; Jeffrey M. Carpenter and Ana C. Kestler from the Tenth Judicial District; Vincent A. De Rosa from the Eleventh Judicial District; and Alberto Figueroa from the Thirteenth Judicial District, along with Phyllis G. Carusillo and Honsan Wong from the Appellate Division.

“We commend these outstanding employees for their diligence, commitment and performance. These individuals deserve our applause and recognition,” Justice LaSalle said.

The award, named after former Presiding Justice Milton Mollen, recognizes exceptional dedication, integrity and professionalism among employees within the Second Judicial Department of the Unified Court System. These are qualities that resonated with the late Justice Mollen’s distinguished career. 

The ceremony, set for 1:00 p.m. at 45 Monroe Place, Brooklyn Heights, will be presided over by the current Presiding Justice, Hon. Hector LaSalle, and the associate justices of the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department.

Expected attendees include Hon. Joseph Zayas, chief administrative judge of New York State Courts; Hon. Norman St. George, first deputy chief administrative judge; and Deputy Chief Administrative Judges Hon. Deborah Kaplan and Hon. James P. Murphy, along with other administrative judges and district executives. The ceremony will also be graced by retired justices of the Second Judicial Department and several dignitaries.

Special remarks will be delivered by Scott E. Mollen, the son of former Presiding Justice Mollen and a distinguished attorney. The ceremony aims to celebrate the exemplary work and commitment of judicial system employees like Tamara Broadus, who have demonstrated outstanding service and dedication.

Presiding Justice LaSalle, in his statement, praised the awardees for their remarkable contribution and thanked the Executive Selection Committee, chaired by Hon. Mark C. Dillon, for their rigorous evaluation and selection process.

The event, acknowledging the diligence and performance of these individuals, will be live-streamed through the Appellate Division, Second Department’s, website for wider accessibility.
