The Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA), in collaboration with the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) and the Statewide ADR Office, will host an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) training session for new arbitrators on Jan. 29. The session is part of a series of training programs designed to enhance the skills of New York’s legal professionals and to better serve their communities.

The upcoming online training offers a full-day program that includes live anti-bias training, video and on-demand content, and real-world simulations through role plays. Completing the program qualifies participants to apply to local arbitration rosters. This training is critical for addressing bias and equipping lawyers with essential arbitrator skills.

In addition to the Brooklyn-focused session, the training series includes dates on Feb. 9 and March 19 for different judicial districts. NYCLA is set to host a pre-meeting for registrants to set expectations and ensure engagement in the program.

Coinciding with these educational efforts, the Office of ADR Programs at the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of Court Administration has announced the appointment of four new board members — Kris Campbell, Hon. Kris Singh, David McNamara and David Richardson.

The Board of Governors, under the leadership of Chair Martha Gifford, plays a crucial role in overseeing ADR programs and initiatives. The addition of the new members marks a significant step in the ongoing enhancement of dispute resolution services across New York.
