The Catholic Lawyers Guild, Diocese of Brooklyn, commemorated the Advent Season with its annual gathering on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Brooklyn Heights. The event featured a Mass followed by a luncheon at the Brooklyn Bar Association, bringing together members of the legal community to celebrate the lead-up to Christmas.

Advent, the period observed in many Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming, is traditionally marked by a spirit of expectation, preparation, and reflection.

Hon. Betsey Jean-Jacques, president of the Catholic Lawyers Guild, expressed her gratitude and festive wishes to the attendees. “Thank you all for joining us in this Advent Season,” she said. “I hope you all have a blessed holiday. Please enjoy … get to know everyone. We have some new faces. I’m happy to see you all.”

Judge Jean-Jacques also took the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of key members within the Guild. “I want to recognize Greg Cerchione for being the backbone of this organization and keeping it together, as well as Joe Rosato for coming up with this event and Lucy DiSalvo for helping to organize it,” she said. The president also thanked Hon. Maria Aragona, the immediate past president, for her service.
