PROSPECT HEIGHTS — Brooklyn’s fourth annual Santa Land Parade took off in Prospect Heights on Saturday afternoon, bringing bands, high-steppers, stilt walkers, classic cars and holiday cheer to Vanderbilt Avenue.

Santa brought up the rear, waving from a sleigh fashioned from an NYPD pickup truck festooned with ribbons and wreaths, and loaded with gayly-wrapped presents.

The parade wound up at the Atlantic Terminal Mall, where participants enjoyed Christmas tunes, posed with Santa, and checked out the holiday happenings. Inside the mall, visitors were serenaded with holiday melodies by the Sirens of Gotham.

The parade marks the official start of the holiday shopping season and the mall’s Santa Land, a family tradition downstairs by DSW. There, kids can meet Santa, listen to him read stories and book a visit. Families can also bring their pets to Pet Night with Santa.
