Upcoming seminar: ‘Know Your Rights’ for NYC tenants, landlords and homeowners

The Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York (HALANY), in collaboration with The Legal Aid Society, the Law Office of Annel-Stephan Norgaisse and Beaulieu Law Firm, is hosting an informative seminar titled “Know Your Rights as Tenants, Landlords, and Homeowners in NYC.” 

This event is designed to educate and empower New York City residents, with a special focus on the Haitian community, about their housing rights. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke is expected to deliver a speech on federal housing policies and explain her office’s role in supporting the community.

This enlightening session, featuring experts from Legal Aid and leading law firms, will be held on December 10 at the YMCA in Brooklyn and will be available in English and Haitian Creole.

The seminar will feature expert speakers including Linda Holmes from Legal Aid, attorney Annel Stephan Norgaisse and Max Beaulieu, offering valuable insights and guidance on housing rights in New York City. To ensure the seminar is accessible to a broad audience, the presentations will be conducted in both English and Haitian Creole.

This is a must-attend event for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities in the realm of housing in New York City, particularly beneficial for members of the Haitian community.

HALANY will also host a Cremas & Ugly Sweater Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 P.M. at the Kingston Public House in Crown Heights. Attorneys are invited to celebrate the holidays at this free event that will feature music by DJ X. The bar association is willing to offer a discounted membership opportunity to lawyers who attend.
