Hon. George J. Silver, a recently retired New York State Supreme Court Judge, has been appointed to the Touro Law Center Board of Governors. The announcement was made by Dean Elena B. Langan, who expressed confidence in Silver’s ability to make significant contributions to the board.

Silver brings a rich legal background to the board. He initially worked as in-house counsel for private bus companies before joining Fields & Rosen, where he became an equity partner. In 2004, he was elected to the Civil Court of the City of New York. He later served as a Supreme Court Judge and presided over various specialized court programs, including a Mediation Part known as J-Med.

Among his many roles, Silver served as the deputy chief administrative judge for New York City Courts, overseeing day-to-day operations of the city’s trial courts. He also acted as interim administrative judge for multiple counties, including New York, Bronx, and Queens.

Silver retired in October 2021 to establish Silverstar Mediation and Arbitration LLC, a firm focused on dispute resolution.

The Touro Law Center Board of Governors is a group of more than 35 lawyers and non-lawyers committed to supporting the growth of the Law Center. Silver will join fellow new appointees Daniel J. Baker and Neil B. Fang, both alumni of Touro Law, on the board.

Touro Law Center is located adjacent to the EDNY federal courthouses in Central Islip, New York.
