The Billie honored with National Medal Of Arts by President Biden
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT – The Billie Holiday Theatre, also known as “The Billie” was honored with the National Medal of Arts at the White House by President Joe Biden Thursday.
The Billie is one of the country’s most distinguished theaters and arts institutions, founded by the Bed-Stuy Restoration Corporation. The ceremony in D.C. was the first to be held in person since the beginning of the pandemic.
The ceremony celebrated the 2021 National Medal of Arts honorees during which President Biden presented the medal to arts and entertainment leaders including Restoration President and CEO Blondel A. Pinnock, who accepted the medal on behalf of The Billie.
