BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Ahmad Hosman surprised the love of his life on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade recently when — on bended knee — he asked her to marry him.

A smiling Qaderi said, “Yes!” and sealed the deal with a kiss.

Hosman’s best friend Mansoor Wardak, who was in on the scheme, had set up a red carpet walkway surrounded by candles, roses and white plastic letters spelling out “Marry Me.” He scattered handfulls of rose petals on the arrangement, while Hosman strolled with the unsuspecting Qaderi.

“It’s a long love,” Wardak told the Brooklyn Eagle. “She lives in Toronto and he lives in Long Island. But they both love New York.”

The plan enchanted pedestrians on the Promenade, who took photos of the scene as Wardak put it together with minutes to spare. A dog walker instructed his three lively charges, “Do not knock over the candles!” (They obeyed.)

After Qaderi accepted and the happy couple embraced, the breeze blew rose petals onto the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway which runs underneath the Promenade, showering a little love onto the lunch time traffic.
