NEW APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM LAUNCHED FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS: New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of Education Chancellor David C. Banks have launched the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship program that will connect three thousand students across more than 50 schools with paid multi-year apprenticeships. The program will, by the end of 2023, place approximately 500 public school students in apprenticeships at companies focused on New York City finance, technology, and business operations, earning between $15 and $25 an hour as an entry-level wage.
The Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship program CRMYA is part of Student Pathways, a historic expansion of career-connected learning opportunities, with the goal of placing each student on a path to a rewarding career, financial independence and long-term economic security.
