ROMANIA — Eyes: Activists wearing masks depicting large eyeballs attended a protest against planned updates of the country’s national security laws after a draft was leaked to the media earlier this month, in Bucharest, on Wednesday. Dozens of activists gathered outside the government headquarters to protest against proposed changes to the laws that offer increased power to Romania’s intelligence service, which included an obligation for citizens and companies to offer support to the service if requested.

CUBA — Fishing: Fishermen with boats made of cork finished working at dawn along the Malecon sea wall in Havana, on Wednesday. Many of the island’s people live along a coast prone to storms, hurricanes and the ravages of salty air and water, triggering building collapses in the capital and damaging homes that are already in poor condition.
