Statement from Senator Gounardes:

“It is high time that New York State recognizes the importance of our state’s constitutional history and celebrates April 20th as New York Constitution Day. Not commemorating this crucial period of our New York’s origins is a chronic failure of civic education. Let me be blunt, it’s time to pass S6193A.”

S6193A would designate April 20th as New York Constitution Day, a day to celebrate the ratification of New York’s first constitution on April 20th 1777 in Kingston, New York. You can read more about Senator Gounardes’ push for New York Constitution Day here.
