NEPAL — Mahashivarati festival: A Hindu holy man smoked marijuana during the Mahashivarati festival at Pashupatinath temple premises in Kathmandu, on Tuesday. During the festival this year, authorities expected a very large number of devotees at the temple that remained closed for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

POLAND — Refugees: Hundreds of beds were placed inside a sports hall to accommodate Ukrainian refugees fleeing Russian invasion at the border crossing town of Medyka, on Tuesday. As trains and buses brought people fleeing Ukraine to the safety of Polish border towns, they carried not just Ukrainians fleeing a homeland under attack but large numbers of other citizens who had made Ukraine their home and whose fates too are now uncertain.
