
Cops seek suspect after teen sexually assaulted in Canarsie

Cops are looking for the man they say sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in Canarsie earlier this month.
According to police, at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, the young girl met with an older man and engaged in conversation. The two then headed to a home near East 102nd Street and Avenue M where, cops say, the girl was sexually assaulted.
She was later taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
The suspect is described as a man with a thin build, long dreadlocks and a goatee. Police say he is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds and anywhere from 20 to 25 years old.
The man was last seen wearing a red bubble jacket, dark jeans and multi-colored sneakers.
In Brooklyn South, which encompasses the 69th Precinct where this incident occurred, reports of rape are up nearly 7 percent year-to-date from 234 in 2018 to 250 in 2019.
Citywide, reported incidents of rape are also up year-to-date.
