Bomb threat at de Blasio’s YMCA deemed unfounded

An emotionally disturbed woman hates Mayor Bill de Blasio so much that she called his YMCA on Wednesday with racist threats to blow up the gym — and a bunch of other YMCAs around the city, according to police and news reports.

All the threats were unfounded, cops said, and the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit was not deployed to any of the YMCA branches, a spokesperson for the cops told the Brooklyn Eagle.

The woman said in her threats that she hated the mayor, according to cops. De Blasio launched a bid for the presidency in May.

“He likes black people and is running for president,” the caller allegedly said, according to the Daily News.

Police did not immediately say which other YMCAs the woman threatened to blow up.

The mayor did not arrive at the YMCA this morning until after the gym was deemed safe, according to a de Blasio spokesperson.

Earlier this month, his Park Slope gym was shut down for a more pedestrian reason: water contamination.

De Blasio’s insistence on being driven from Gracie Mansion to Park Slope nearly daily to work out has irked many New Yorkers and drawn the ire of the local press for years.
