Seven Bay Ridge Lawyers sworn into U.S. Supreme Court
Seven members of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association travelled to Washington D.C. over the weekend and were officially sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court during a ceremony on Monday.
Naomi Skura, Lisa Becker, Joseph Cacagno, Mario Romano, Antoinetta Monaco, Yolanda Guadagnoli and Andrea Arrigo were all officially sponsored by BRLA President Joseph Vasile and past president Thomas Tafuri.
Getting sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court is necessary to be able to argue a case there; however, attorneys will often do it even if they don’t plan on taking a case there because of the court’s significance.
Attorneys must be admitted to practice law in their state for at least three years to be eligible and have a clean disciplinary record. The court also requires a letter of good standing from a presiding judge, clerk or other top official.
