Hard-pressed Central Brooklyn health care system will get $210 million
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that Central Brooklyn will receive an influx of cash through One Brooklyn Health, a $210 million initiative aimed at improving health care facilities in the area.
The initiative, according to Patch, comes eight months after health care nonprofit The Leapfrog Group gave “F” grades to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center and Interfaith Medical Center; “D” grades to Maimonides Medical Center, New York Methodist Hospital, SUNY Downstate and several other facilities; and “C” grades to Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Lutheran Medical Center and several others.
In addition, there are only 55 doctors per 100,000 residents in Central Brooklyn, Patch said.
