Cops seek suspect in attempted armed robbery of Coney Island deli on Christmas Day

Cops are looking to identify the man, they say, held up a Coney Island deli at knife-point on Christmas Day.

According to authorities, at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the individual entered Beach Deli, located at 3204 Mermaid Ave., displayed a knife and demanded money from the employee behind the counter. The suspect is said to have then punched a second employee repeatedly before fleeing to parts unknown empty-handed.

Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he received treatment for a laceration on his hand.

The suspect is said to be a 20 to 25 year old man who is approximately 5’10” tall. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie that says “ADIDAS” on the front, dark pants and dark sneakers.
