Authorities say a police cruiser jumped a curb, hit a pedestrian and struck a building while responding to a call in New York City.
The New York Police Department says officers were responding to a false alarm about an active shooter when the crash happened Saturday night in Brooklyn.
Investigators say the cruiser swerved to avoid hitting a child in the street and ended up hitting a 32-year-old man on the sidewalk before crashing into a building.
The man suffered two broken legs in the crash. The two officers involved in the crash have been hospitalized with minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
