Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams and Councilmember Mathieu Eugene held a press conference Thursday morning announcing an expanded reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the perpetrator responsible for the rape and robbery of a woman near Prospect Park early Sunday morning.

According to the NYPD, the 59-year-old victim was on her way home from a family event when the assailant put her in a chokehold, alleged to have a gun and knife, pushed her against a parked van and tried to sexually assault her. He then dragged her behind a bench and raped her, and afterward broke the window of the van, forced the woman inside and tried to sexually assault her again. When he was unable to do so, he stole $10 from her purse before running from the scene.

“I’m adding $1K to info leading to an arrest and conviction, and I’m asking and to convene on a plan to increase street lighting,” Adams tweeted Thursday.
