Cafe Gitane, a well-known Nolita, Manhattan, eatery, has opened an outpost in Vinegar Hill. The new Brooklyn spot, at 70 Hudson Ave., has 10 tables and a turntable. The menu is less extensive than the Nolita original, focusing on brunch and snacks, according to Brownstoner.
Cafe Gitane closes at 6 p.m. on weeknights but is open late Friday and Saturday. It’s also around the corner from the Commandant’s House, an impressive 19th century mansion that was once part of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and is now privately owned. The cafe’s owners originally intended to open in spring 2017, Brownstoner reported.
