Among all of New York City’s five boroughs, Brooklyn has the most rat complaints, according to a new study conducted by RentHop. The neighborhoods with the most rat complaints are either within walking distance of parks or next to restaurants and shops, said PIX 11.

Parks give rats space to make burrows, and several of the Brooklyn addresses mentioned in the survey as having a heavy rat population, such as 407 Lincoln Place and 95 Eastern Parkway, are within a few blocks of Prospect Park. Neighborhoods with large numbers of reported rodents include Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Bushwick and Williamsburg. To avoid infestation, it is important to securely tie garbage bags and properly discard them, according to PIX 11.
