As summer begins, here are a couple of eateries around Sunset Park that offer some atmosphere.

Los Compadres, located at 5502 Third Ave. and 55th Street, is a Salvadoran restaurant that turns on its disco ball at night and stays open till 2 a.m. The spot offers cheap drinks and groovy tunes. Its specials include fried pork chop platters with sides of rice and beans, plantains and french fries. They also serve $2 corn cakes called pupusas stuffed with cheese and squash, or shredded zucchini, The Daily News reported.

Breeze Cafe, a family-run Dominican shop, serves everything from ice cream and ice coffee, to sorbets and Slush Puppies. The special thing about this cafe is that there’s a party room in the back available to rent by the hour.

“We had the extra space, and we weren’t using it,” said Christian Abreu, a member of the family.

The cafe sits on the bottom floor of the family’s apartment building at 5613 Fourth Ave. near 56th Street. Their specials are a creamy, coconutty sorbet and their butter pecan ice cream. Their other ice cream flavors such as pistacho and rum raisin can come in a waffle bowl with three scoops for $4.50 or a large sugar cone for $4.75.
