Ground broken at Fort Hamilton High School for new athletic field
On Wednesday, May 30, Councilmember Justin Brannan along with Parks Department officials broke ground at Fort Hamilton High School, where construction will begin on a new track and field.
The $4.7 million project was announced last October by then-Councilmember Vincent Gentile. In total, the budget for this renovation had been $5.5 million according to a report from last year, with funding allocated by Gentile, former City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
“It’s such a beloved space and it’s needed a lot of love for a long time,” said Brannan. “I just want to get the word out to folks that it’s happening, and we’re breaking ground and it’ll be done before you know it.”
