Stars and Stripes honors five including Councilmember Vincent Gentile

The Stars and Stripes Regular Democratic Organization of the 49th Assembly District held its annual dinner last week where it honored four including Councilmember Vincent Gentile, who recently retired from the City Council.

Gentile was given the Public Service Award. The other honorees included Ralph Perfetto, Nancy Sottile, Sunny Mui and Briget Rein.

“Each of the honorees is an exceptional person with a fantastic life story whose contributions to the community are immeasurable,” said district leader Victoria Kelly.

At the dinner, district leaders for the 49th Assembly District Victoria Kelly and Joseph Bova spoke about the past year, which included adding councilmembers Justin Brannan and Kalman Yeger to the club’s leadership.

They also discussed upcoming elections that where the group is endorsing Max Rose for Congress in Staten Island and South Brooklyn and Andrew Gounardes for state Senate against Republican Sen. Marty Golden.

“This year, we will be supporting campaigns in all levels of government to ensure our rights are protected,” said President Irene Chu. “We need to stand strong for our DREAMers, equal rights, public safety and integrity.”
