Young professionals are expecting a high degree of amenities in their Brooklyn apartments, and these are often more important to them than what most people consider the basics. Alison Novack of Hudson Companies traces this to the fact that universities seem to be constantly competing to provide amenities for their students, and this may give them high expectations for their apartment buildings after graduation, according to The Real Deal. The subject was discussed at TerraCRG’s Only Brooklyn Event, which featured many real estate executives. “Many panelists viewed building amenities like roof decks and common spaces as crucial to the borough’s future,” The Real Deal said. Seth Pinsky of RXR Realty said that many young people are looking for something “somewhere between a college dorm and an apartment, where the common space is much more important, where perhaps you’re willing to share elements of the apartment as long as you have a room to yourself.”
