Norwegian Day Parade returns to Bay Ridge
On Sunday, May 20, the annual Norwegian Day Parade makes its return to Bay Ridge.
The parade — which commemorates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution on May 17, 1814 and is held on the Sunday closest to that date each year — steps off from 80th Street and Third Avenue at 1:30 p.m., turns right at Bay Ridge Avenue up to Fifth Avenue, making a left on Fifth and continuing until 67th Street, heading along the park and up to the reviewing stand which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
Like every year, various religious, civic, and band groups will take part, and Norwegian culture will be highlighted. The theme of this year’s parade is “Honoring our Veterans,” according to the 17th of May Parade official website.
