Catalan pro-independence supporters have scuffled with Spanish Civil Guard officers as they left a building, escorting a government official arrested as part of a crackdown by national authorities on Catalonia’s plans to hold a secession referendum. 

KENYA – Stung by Bees: A man with disabilities who was unable to run away when a swarm of bees attacked police and passers-by outside the Supreme Court, has soapy water thrown over him to try and revive him after being severely stung, before an ambulance arrived to take him away alive, in downtown Nairobi, Kenya, Wednesday. In a detailed ruling issued Wednesday Kenya’s Supreme Court said it nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election largely because the electoral commission refused scrutiny of its computerized voting system. 

MEXICO – The Search for Missing People: A Red Cross worker stands, top center, on a collapsed building where rescuers continue searching for people trapped inside, in the Roma Norte neighborhood of Mexico City, Wednesday. Mexicans across the city are digging through collapsed buildings, trying to save people trapped in debris under schools, homes and businesses, toppled by a 7.1 earthquake that killed more than 200 people. 

BANGLADESH – Covered in Mud: Rohingya Muslims, who crossed over from Myanmar into Bangladesh, wait for their turn to receive handouts near Balukhali refugee camp, Bangladesh, Wednesday. More than 400,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh since Aug. 25, when deadly attacks by a Rohingya insurgent group on police posts prompted Myanmar’s military to launch “clearance operations” in Rakhine state. 

NEW YORK – First Lady at U.N.: First lady Melania Trump addresses a luncheon at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York Wednesday. Trump called on world leaders to come together for the good of their children, delivering her first public remarks at the United Nations as the White House works to strengthen its relationships abroad.
