Leo Glasser, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Bridget M. Rohde announced on Friday.
Justin Smith, who was known to frequent the Gowanus and Wyckoff Gardens housing projects in Boerum Hill, was sentenced following his conviction after pleading guilty on Oct. 28, 2016 to multiple counts of illegal drug distribution and firearm offenses.
“Justin Smith, a gang member and convicted drug dealer who regularly kept and carried illegal firearms to protect his criminal organization, used an apartment in Wyckoff Gardens as a base of operations to sell crack and heroin, putting the residents of that community at great risk,” Rohde said. “This office, together with its law enforcement partners, will work tirelessly to address this type of dangerous conduct.”
