New Yorkers urged to ‘stay inside’ during worst snowstorm of the season
With at least nine inches of snow already blanketing most of New York City, city officials urged New Yorkers to stay inside if possible, as even more is on the way as part of Snowstorm Niko.
“We are currently experiencing the worst of the storm,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at about 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9. “I want to emphasize to all New Yorkers, stay inside if you can. Don’t go out if you don’t have to.”
The latest forecasts, officials said, anticipate approximately 10 to 14 inches of snow in total.
