Assemblymember Nicole Malliotakis has been named New York State Director of the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL).

The aim of the NFWL is to empower female elected leaders and to provide resources to these women for leadership development, networking and state outreach among other efforts. In her role as state director, Malliotakis will serve as a point of contact for women who are elected officials in New York, as well as to bring them the opportunities that the NFWL provides.

Malliotakis, who will take over the position immediately, said, “I am honored to serve my colleagues as state director and will do my best to grow this remarkable organization that has empowered many women to step into elected positions across the country.”

NFWL’s 2017 chair, Carrie Ruud, a state senator from Minnesota, is proud of Malliotakis and sees her as a prime example of the ideals of the organization. “NFWL’s theme for 2017 is leadership, and Nicole exemplifies this theme. She will play a key role in aiding women legislators in New York, as we continue to grow as an organization.”

Malliotakis will hold the position through the end of 2017.
