Brooklyn hospitals welcome first babies of 2017

The first baby born at NYU Lutheran Medical Center in 2017 arrived just a few short hours into the New Year.

At 4:10 a.m. on Jan. 1, little Helen Zhu made her big debut at the hospital at 150 55th St. in Sunset Park.

Baby Helen weighed in at 7 pounds and 13 ounces and was 22 inches in length. She is the fourth child of mom Bin Xing Wang and dad Daci Zhu, who are residents of Sunset Park.

At 2:51 a.m. on January 1, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital welcomed its New Year’s Baby, Jacob Colmar-Espinosa.

Jacob weighs five pounds, 7 1/2 ounces and is 18.5 inches in length. His parents Diana Espinosa and Phillip Colmar live in Long Island City, Queens. Jacob is the couple’s first child.
