A notice posted on buildings in Bay Ridge is alerting residents to nighttime work on a ramp of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, slated to begin on Sunday, August 28.

Continuing through Thursday, September 1, MTA Bridges and Tunnels (TBTA) will be performing demolition of an existing ramp on the bridge from about 8 p.m. through 8 a.m. during the four-day construction period, which the authority says “is necessary in order to advance the new HOV ramp construction.”

Although TBTA will be working “longer shifts in order to reduce the number of work nights and to ensure the demo is complete before Labor Day,” the agency wants neighbors to know that “every effort has been made to minimize the amount of work done at night.

“However, certain areas must be addressed off-hours to ensure the safety of the public and the construction workers,” the notice reads. “We apologize for any inconvenience this operation may cause, and we thank the community for your cooperation and support in the past.”

As far as any questions or concerns regarding the scheduled work, TBTA advises residents to call the construction management office at 718-836-0157.
