The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association continued an annual tradition that goes back 19 years when it went to P.S. 274 in Bushwick for a Read Across America event last Wednesday, March 2.

The event is spearheaded by Hon. Joanne D. Quinones, who graduated from P.S. 274 as a child. She now brings a group of judges and lawyers to the school every year to dress up as Dr. Seuss characters and read from his books.

This year, Quinones brought along Justice Genine D. Edwards, Deborah Johnson, Natoya McGhie, John Coffey, Joy A. Thompson, Carrie Anne Cavallo and Justice Nancy M. Bannon to read to some 40 first-graders. Afterward, they passed out toys and shared a Dr. Seuss cake.
